Default went to the local drag strip

so my friends and i went to Infineon Raceway a few hrs ago.

what time should i be getting? i have a Gs400. 19inch wheels, 245 front 275 rear. 3.76 supra rear diff. 2800 TC. air suspension. k&n intake. and some blah exhaust.

what do you guys think i should be running at the drag strip?

i did 3 runs. first was reaction:.610 1/4: 14.954, second reaction:.610 1/4: 14.908, and third (bracket dialed in 14.83) i ran a 14.83 with a reaction of .7something. my reaction time was so garbage.

first 2 i had rally bad launch. third one the launch was alittle better but still pretty bad.

just want to know what you guys think is a good 1/4 mile time for a GS400.

that's decent man, a big boat like the GS with just a few bolt ons and a TC isn't exactly gonna be like lightning down the track. well done

...sounds like there's a problem. I remeber a post on here with a guy (I'll edit this post when his name comes to mind) that had only intake, exhaust also 19" chrome wheels and subs in the trunk and ran a 13.98. I don't think he ever posted up his time slip but I will find out who it was and ask him. With those mods I would thin you would AT LEAST land somewhere between 13.9 and 14.2. Damn, how heavy is our cars compared to second generation IS's? Also, how do they compare to G35 sedans (weight wise)?

a more important number to compare is the 60ft time you were getting.

...oh, that's right. I forgot because it would tell if he had any serious traction issues; good call!

ShaneC - What were your 60' times?

How much in the gas tank?

I usually run no more than 1/4 tank.

Well, your car is not performing up to its ability. A 2.2 60ft is just barely OK. With the torque converter and LSD you should be able to cut sub 2 second 60fts.

That said your MPH is way down. I ran a 15.4 at 91mph with my OLD 1996 LS400 (260hp/270tq, 4 speed automatic, 4000 lbs)

In very similar conditions I ran 14.4 at 97mph in my nearly stock 1999 LS400 (stock torque coverter, stock modified air filter box for cold air good for 5rwhp, removed rear mufflers no hp improve but saved 40lbs weight, 1/4 tank of gas, 4100lbs race weight)

My best run in excellent air 44 degrees and a barometer of 30.1 was a 14.22 @ 99.38mph on a 2.19 60ft. Give me that torque converter and I would have posted a 13 second LS400 slip.

What type of gas were you running. Make CERTAIN it is good premium 93 octane. Lower octane will hurt power as the ECU pulls ignition timing.

poop! i thought my car should of done better. i think next time i go i should be able to get 14.6 or 14.7 with a good launch.

also when i brake torque the rear wheels starts to spin after 2100 rpm. does a TC allow me to brake torque higher? (just wondering)

Shane, put your stock wheels on. See if your times get quicker.

Your 19's are probably heavier than your stock wheels, and you will have a slower time with more rotating mass, than on stock wheels.

You are shifting with the E-shift right?

Also, reset your ECU, and on your way to the race track, do a pull through 1-2-3 gears to redline to get your VVT-i to set itself to quicker acceleration instead of gas saving mode lol.

DONT FORGET TO HIT YOUR PWR SWITCH!!! that's like 80+hp! (kidding)

maybe raise up your car a bit for more contact patch on your tires, less wheels spin=getting outta the hole quicker.

thanks caoboy. and now i was not in e-shift... so car shifted about 500 before redline. it was the first time i too the gs to the track.

i do want to throw some smaller wheels on the car and see what happens.
