F-sport Intake - TECH / OWNER'S OPINIONS PLEASE

PLEASE READ THIS POST FIRST!!!

Well, now that the F-sport intake is out, I figured I'd post a new thread about it, to provide the CL community with owner opinions and TECH help.

AGAIN: please only provide TECHNICAL stuff or owner's opinions, as this will only HELP the community. Please don't post: "just get the Joe-Z, it's cheaper", or "why do it, it's overpriced" or, "if it's like every other intake, then don't bother". There are many other threads that already state that.

So, I will start, as I do have a question:

Is the filter from the F-sport intake the same size as the factory intake. Reason for asking: Those that already have a Blitz or K&N may want to use those instead.

Also, maybe someone can try using both to see if there is a difference between the F-sport "blue" filter and the K&N or Blitz.

This is the first F-sport accessory i want to get. But first i want to hear what it sounds like. Does the whole new air box make a really big difference in sound?

Well, I actually found the answer to my own question after looking at the install instructions.

The f-sport intake utilizes the factory lid, so I'm assuming that the filters are the same size

just ordered mine off sewell...might have a shop install since I am a noob low on free time but I will try to post some reviews.

Intake was shipped today... hopefully I'll have it installed soon as well. I noticed on Sewell's site that they were selling the F-Sport Intake Cleaning kit. I'm guessing that the filter is supposed to be re-usable.... Anyone know if it's hard to "clean?" I hear stories of how some people added too much oil and damaging their MAF sensors...

Glad to see Lexus knows a good design when they see one... ;)

Here is the Official F-Sport Intake Install guide from Sewell..

http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/imp...-AI-0077-D.pdf

The $26 cleaning kit, would suggest the filter is oil based & resuable...

Also, the "Do Not Throw Filter Label" is a pretty good hint its reusable..

Looks like I will be taking out my DREMEL when I get home tonight..!! :woot:

Here are some pics from our CL member:

Enjoy

does anyone know if this will void any warranty we have with our cars...since it is a lexus part?

Pivo154 Apr 17, 2008 06:30 PM

Any change in sound/any hp gains....?

chums Apr 17, 2008 06:51 PM

it will not void any warranty if it is dealer installed, though theres a chance it could if you install it yourself.

The part itself has a 1 yr warranty if bought over the counter and installed yourself. I'm not sure if other items are covered further if there is a problem caused by the intake.

anyone know what the extra hole in the airbox is for or how/if it connects to anything? i don't remember there being two air inlets on the stock one

I think that hole in the front of the air box is suppose to let more air in as oppose to the factory one which only uses the snorkel

uschardcor Apr 18, 2008 07:38 AM

seems that would just negate the 'cold air' being delivered via the snorkel.
