Default A/F Controller and daily driveability???

I'm considering getting one of these after my exhasut and headers come in. I've heard some sick numbers from just using one(Apexi neo or SAFC 2) of these, like 20-30rwhp, Has anyone had any problems with using one of these with daily driving????

You shouldn't have any problems, unless one of the connections came loose or something. Unless you solder them, I doubt that will ever happen.

I haven't had any personal experience but I plan on installing one pretty soon. Unfortunately, I have a 300 not a 400 but last I heard another member tuned his sc400 with an afc and gained 16 hp and 42 lb/ft of torque! With header and exhaust, you should see big gains .

Sorry to kinda jack the thread but ... would one of these work with the SRT intake if properly tuned?

It's kind of redundent to use it with and SRT intake because the SRT ecu modifies a/f ratio already. It's and expensive upgrade considering the SRT is around $400 plus another $200 for the SAFC. A more logical choice would be to get a K&N intake plus the SAFC. I much rather use that than the SRT since the SRT ECU is tuned for stock cars. The SAFC allows more flexibility to fine tune all your mods together.

Well the thing is I already have the SRT Intake + ECU on my '01 GS430, but am planning on gettin Headers/X-Pipe/Exhaust in the future, and also considering 3.76 LSD gears and Torque Converter ... And maybe possibly later on moving onto a supercharger if i can save up the $$$$ ... Would an SRT Intake + SAFC combo work better than the SRT ECU?

The SRT+ecu is set up for stock cars, no header, no exhaust! I would think the srt+safc would net better hp gains from everything I've read on here about them! I think you would be more restricted with the srt+ecu with the other mods your looking at doing. That's the reason I went with the K&N FIPK2!

This is the route that I'm at right now (not going)...I just got my Apexi Neo last week and am currently looking into a Plug-N-Play harness through Boomslang.us (Thanks GSoup!). I don't want to cut into the factory harness and deal with soldering and taping. These PNP kits are expensive though ($275) but it is piece of mind for when I sell the car down the road; no one will know that I altered things on the harness (except you guys;lol). I too am getting either the S&S Headers or JPI ones soon as well.

Never seen it done on a 1UZ-FE so I cant say but is it just me or does 30rwhp sound a little too optimistic...?

I guess we will find out soon. Lexism just ordered one for his 430. He already has S&S headers and Carson tuned cat back. After I see them install and tune his car on the dyno I will be a believer! I'm sure he will post it after it's done. 30 rwhp is numbers I heard from other members on here.

No JPI headers, he is no longer making his headers unless 50 people agree to buy.

here is a link to a guy that was stock and added safc. 16whp tuned on stock car, add 17whp by way of headers, maybe more. then add intake, bigger exhaust pipes to match headers, etc... i think 30whp can be achived.
