Default Question for "club tanabe" members

I just got done installing my Tanabe exhaust earlier, and love the sound. Like everyone said, it doesn't drone at highway speeds, and really just makes the exhaust loud enough to hear without being loud.

But, there is one slight "issue" that I don't know if others experience or not. When accelerating (at any speed), right at 2500 rpm the exhaust seems quite loud (what I would call drone if it was sustained). It really doesn't bother me too much, because I know it's only for a second or two while accelerating, but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Other than that one thing, I am quite impressed and happy with the system. The quality, fit, and sound are great.

So, I just want to know if others are experiencing this, because no one really made mention of it before.

Yup, I get that too. And I find that, unfortunately, when I am on the freeway doing about 75mph, my engine is revving in 6th gear at 2.5k rpm = DRONE. If I go any higher than 75 it gets pretty unbearable, because the drone only gets worse until you hit 3k rpm, by which time I am doing like 80+. So, at least it keeps me from speeding :P It does get kind of loud from 2.5k to about 3k but I am sure you will get used to it :]

The more miles you put on the exhaust the better it will get. I was a bit shocked at how loud it can seem at around 2500rpm when I was first breaking it in, but now it's just right. I have over 2500 miles on it now.

I just went driving to see if this was the case.

For me, 75 mph is 2300 rpm, and I have no drone.

Every exhaust will have "drone" if you hit the spot in the rpm range when it happens. This is something that you will never get rid of. Every exhaust I have ever had is this way. Each car is different, some exhausts however have this as a worse issue than other depending on the design of the exhaust.

That's true, for all but one company. CORSA exhaust kits will NOT drone....period.

But, unfortunately, they don't make one for the IS.
