Mechanics really just charge the amount of time with what is listed in the book they have. It lists the amount of time it takes to perform each task on the specific vehicle. Of course, it usually does not take them as long as they list. Their labor rates will vary.

I would say it's a 6 hour job for the TC an 1 hour for the cooler. Depending on how much your shop charges you, most shop around here go by $65/hr. The toyota dealer around here are $70-$75ish.

I'd say $450-500 is a fair price

The TC makes a dramatic difference if you floor it from a stop. Have you tired that?

It feels ONLY a little faster? Something doesn't sound right.

What kind of TC did you get??

It shouldn't be a little faster. You should easily smoke your tires in the rear. Something you can't really do with the OEM tc.

Did you floor it from a stop or did you try to do it while the brakes were engaged?

I can do burnouts easily, but smoking the tires from a launch without brake torquing is rather hard.
