Default Urgent Help Needed PI TC question same TC 400 and 430?

I bought a used PI Torque Converter from an 03 GS430 under the impression that it was the same as the TC that is used in the 99 GS400 that I have, the mechanic that is putting it in said that it wasn't fitting in there the way that it was supposed to, are the TC different or the same? Any information from someone that knew would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Carson lists the same part for 400 and 430, maybe you need a new mechanic.

Ha that's funny, I did a search and it seems most people agree that they are the same, when the Tranny guy called I kind of panicked. I wish that someone that really knew would post instead of someone just posting a reply, that doesn't do me any good and actually complicates things. If any one knows for sure, I would really appreciate it.

The TC should be the same for both the 430 and the 400. The only thing that people were worrying about was buying the TC for the 430 and the CEL coming on but that's the only thing that comes to mind.

Maybe you forgot to click the link I added to the reply, it confirms that a Toyota dealership sells the the same part for both cars, not sure how that complicates things.

I'm sorry I was talking about the first post, I appreciate your help - my point was that I was asking an urgent question that needed an answer from someone that knew for sure or something helpful like what you supplied, not a wrong answer from someone that didn't know what they were talking about. Thank you for your help, I hope you're not offended.

Thanks everyone I got the Torque Converter installed and the 3.73 gears. It makes quite a difference although for some reason, reading everyones reaction to the mods on here I was expecting more, my brother has a twin turbo supra - so I might be a little desensitized. I am surprised that it possibly feels that much smoother -- until I punch it.

Did you or the mechanic figure out why it was not fitting? what did he do to get it installed?

I guess I forgot to mention that it was a different size and he decided to err on the side of caution and call to make sure it was indeed the correct part since he hadn't ordered it and couldn't verify that it would work. Yeah, when you ride in a car like that, it's got close to 700 rwh everything else feels slow.
