Default Joe Z Intake for IS 250

After reading numerous posts regarding various air intakes, it appears that the Joe Z tube is arguably one of the best in terms of producing power, at lest as proven on various IS 350 independent dyno graphs. My questions are:

(1) Is the air intake tube the same on the IS 250, i.e. are they interchangeable?

(2) If so, has anyone dynoed a Joez tube on the 250 rather than the 350?

I only recall reading 1 independent dyno test being done by Caymandive. Can you
link me some of the others, please?/

Until someone does a dyno with stock, and the aftermarket exhaust(s) on the same day, you can't really go off of the results. Are they better than nothing? Absolutely. However, there are too many variables (temp, humidity, gas, continuing break-in of the engine, dyno operator, engine oil condition and quantity, etc.,) to make a claim from the info I've seen so far.

If someone has done consecutive dynos with different intakes, a link(s) would be great.

With that said, if my hand were forced, I'd have to wager that there are some very slight gains to be had from the JoeZ intake.

JoeZ did the dyno on the 250 on the my.is site. Don't think the results were posted here.

I just got mine yesterday. Will be putting it on this weekend. Gunmetal is pretty It's much bigger than I expected. Always looks small in the pictures.

Awesome, thanks for the link. I was quite pleased to see it actually makes more horsepower for the 250 than the 350

However, I'm confused as to why the auto only has a 14% loss through the drivetrain and the manual has a 15% loss? Unless my butt dyno is way off, the 250 auto I drove felt significantly slower than my manual. Maybe the auto is more efficient on the 350 than the 250?

Manuals are almost always more efficient than AT's. I think it's either underrating the crank hp of the 350 or overrating the crank hp of the 250 (or a little of both.) The 350 at 306 bhp is putting down 265+- at the wheels, which is almost as much as the M3's at 333 bhp putting down 275 +- at the wheels.

its also much harder to dyno an automatic accurately, thats why the torque curves look really different on the manual 250 and auto 350

M3's are putting down slightly more hp, but the IS350's are putting down more torque.

Not really

Since it is against forum policy to link to other sites, you can go to e46fanatics and do a search. My figure is a good estimate. I've pm'd you a link.

Sorry I'm basing my statement off those E46 M3's (stock) that have dyno'd on the same dyno as me. The one bone stock E46 M3 I saw dyno put down 263.5hp and 228tq on the same dyno that I dyno'd my IS350.

Where the M3's really get us 350 owners is weight! And handling of course, but a good portion of that can also be attributed to weight.

Yeah the M3 is about 100lbs lighter than the IS350.
