3.92 gears installed on Hollywood's GS430
Well I had the 3.92 gears installed on my GS430. Bought from a 92 SC400. The affair was not 100% bolt on, 95% bolt on. The flange that connects to the driveshaft was not 100% the same it was very close though. They just switched flanges, so it was easy. I'ts a 1 hour job at a mechanic. I would not have wantyed to do it myself on jack stands cause the ****ing thing is soo heavy.
The difference well the first night I did not feel the difference that much. The 2nd night I totally noticed it. The thing about out GS's though it takes sooooo much more power to feel large differences on the butt dyno as our cars are so heavy. So Jbrady worked it out to be 19.8% more TQ and RPM. It did not feel as drastic as I thought it would. It does feel faster and more ready to rev up. Last gear seems very eager to be ready to rev up on the highway at cruising speeds, quick to give power more than before. Exhaust and intake are a bit more vocal too due to the RPM changes.
Gas milage is worse now especially when I use the power. I would not want higher gearing than the 3.92.
I think with the intake, catback exhaust, headers, custom ypipe, the 3.92 would be a nice mod for that grouping.
I did not make it to the drags on friday as it was closed due to water on the track, so ill try again this friday comming up. The drag times will tell all of the true performance of this mod. Ill reserve my full judgement till then. 1st gear at the drags is a big hamper for our cars cause of the wieght, so im hoping the gears to help me out there.

What kind of RPM are you turning at 80 mph? Are you on stock wheels/tires? Not sure if you are planning to do the TC or not since you have the GS430, but my car with both mods totally leaps from a dead stop when I nail the throttle (regardless of the weight)!! Interested to see what times you run...

I guess my butt dyno is less sensative in such a comfortable car. My 240 with stiff coilovers and SR20 I could tell more easily.
On the gas milage I got 570km on a ful tank of 94 on my stock diff last week. Need to do a fillup to give accurate results. But that wiont be for a while as I dont need a fuill tank for racing on friday.

Well I gained 0.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Thats about it. But im at soooo high elevation its sad for NA cars.
15.0 1/4 mile, 2.2 60ft, 91mph. Previous was 15.3, difference being only the 3.92 on ****ty tires.

Hollywood,
What are your cruising engine RPMs at 60mph?
Let's compare to others with stock gears and with 3.77 gears (that is right, I said 3.77, Supra has 3.769 ratio and that is 3.77 in my book)
BTW, what did the 3.92s cost you?
