Finally made it to the Dyno (i'm impressed)

389.1 at the rear wheels, enuff said. Well yea I know but that is a ton of HP at least where I am concerned. AF mixture stays flat throughout the entire power band.

We made 3 total runs each run was better than the one before it, I'm not sure why I think I will call the shop on Tuesday and ask them about it. It has me wondering if I would have done even better on a 4 th run.

The first graph shows the best run and the second will show all 3.

P.S. did I mention that the engine has 210K miles on it.

Here is the chart with all 3 runs.

Awesome numbers. Your A/F goes below 12:1, isn't that on the lean (risky) side?

you've got it backwards... 15 is high, 12 is low.

And "average" A/F ratio for FI is ~12.5:1 Depends on your setup. Many do 11:1, around 10:1 I'd be worried about bore wash.

Great Numbers

Thats AWESOME

Anyone have ideas on why the numbers got higher with each run?

Were they tuning the SAFC2 in between each run? That would be the difference if so.. it is showing you the power of proper tuning.

Morris,
What psi were you running? Very nice power there.

NO they didnt tune the AFC at all.the shop that did the SC install tuned it with a Wideband and the shop guy felt that the AF was right where it needed to be. From some feedback I am now getting I am beginnng to question that, but I am not sure.

It looked like I hit about 8 PSI on the dyno runs. I can get up to 10 on the street. lower gear higher rpms and such.

so Mahdavi did the install right? When they tuned it with a wideband was it on a dyno? Doesnt make sense to me how you would keep increasing power on each dyno run with no tuning or changing parameters going on. Just street tuning with a wideband is dangerous and inconsistent.. a dyno offers repeatable results in a controlled setting. Wide band "drive-tuning" is better for part throttle cruising on the lo-throttle SAFC map.

Nice #s regardless. Very impressive for 210k miles. I made 240rwhp on an 80 shot of nitrous and a 213k mile bottom end in my 93 GS300. Found out afterward that I had 2 weak cylinders.. one 85psi and one 50psi.

Good luck with the future mods!

I just looked closely at the graph again.. I can almost guarantee some tuning was done and most likely on the SAFC2. The last run was obviously leaner and therefore that is the reason that the hp/torque increased. If you look carefully you can also see major changes in the location of the powerband..

nice #s still.. I hope to be making mine soon in the range of 400-450rwhp. I'm driving a 93 GS300 with a GTE shortblock. Will be building a set of twins for it soon.

Epic thats what I thought, but they didnt tune it while on the DYNO I was there when he made the runs. I am thinking that it has something to do iwth how he applied power. He was not WOT from the start of the run to the end. He had to start of soft so that the car wouldnt shift down. I may be reading it wrong but it looks like the power peaks and Torque peaks apply at the same point on each run.

No Morris, I think JPI was referring to me. Not to worry that was the old motor. Now I have a GTE shortblock installed. I have a full thread with pics in the 1St Gen forum.

I see what you mean about applying power on the dyno with the auto so it wouldnt shift down. I have to put my car into 2nd and go from about 2800rpm, otherwise it wants to kick down. I hope to be dynoing it tomorrow with the new shortblock and other mods.
