IMO don't count on much power from either one... 1 - 3 hp at max.
Since there aren't that many folks with the Carson Tuned and I'm not sure if recall any of the west coast guys having Borla exhaust, a comparison might be hard to come by. Blackdiamond (Eric) in ATL may have heard enough Borla vs his Carson Tuned to make a determination, or we can all listen in August during our next big meet if you can wait that long.

In my opinion, I like the sound of the Carson Tuned exhaust better than any other GS exhaust I've heard to date. It's very deep and throaty, like a V8 should be, but you really don't notice it inside... no highway speed droning at all. I have scraped the forward part of the canister, and I don't have coilovers (H&R/Bilstein combo), but, that was a very, very steep driveway, so it's not that big a deal for normally sloped areas. Bottom line... I'd buy one again in a heartbeat!
i perosnally dont like the borlas...too plain looking...the carson tuned one or KIMURA exhaust...is what i really like...cause it has mid pipes...and canisters.....me personally i have the hks hiper exhaust system...direct bolt on...i just got them cause they fill out my rear bumper way more then any other exhaust could have...the hks hiper has a nice deep tone...nothing too ricey...but its great get alot of compliments on it....and add an intake to your car...and it reall rumbles...ronnie

I guess I never posted about the Borlas in detail in my QA above... If I had to do it again (bought mine in 99) I'm not sure what I'd get. Would be a tough decision because I love the way the Carson-tuned are designed as Kandy mentioned above, great fit and finish. Now that I have an aftermarket bumper/rear valence I might choose something other than the Borla if I were buying new. But I hate giving up the Borla million mile warranty which the others don't match that I've seen.
IMO the Borla's fit the stock rear end of the GS much better. The stainless steel oval exhaust fits perfectly in the OEM bumper cutouts and make it appear much more aggressive. The sound is very deep and mean when you get into the throttle, but not to loud at idle. I personally do not like big shiny cannisters hanging out under my GS (at least for now, have internally battled with this having seen them on several cars). They're more prone to scrape and in my mind they're borderline ricey when I see 'em. Just my personal opinion here, don't hold it against me folks
. I tend to be on the more conservative side with my style of upgrade.

Wow, those are some massive cutouts
, need the big guns to fill that up, or dual tips. Beautiful paint, btw.
On an OEM GS bumper cutout here's the Borla
I had a slightly bigger set of Borla tips welded on for the cutout in my new L-sportline bumper.

Here's a pic of the Carson Tuned exhaust. The Carson Tuned is a full cat-back exhaust and the Borla is just the canisters. IMO, they both sound great but I would expect the Carson Tuned to offer a bit more power due to the cat-back design with larger pipes. The real question is "what's your budget?" There is about a $300 difference between the two...Good luck
I talked to Steve about this last week and from what he knows, the prototype maybe on it's way by boat from Japan. The only problem is that Steve is having a communication break down with the guys in Japan which is causing a delay...
