update: fixed it after messing with the battery and key switch.

Ignition Lock Stuck
Happened on my 04 10 days back. Squirted some contact cleaner into keyhole and slid/fiddled it about then it turned OK.
On that occurrence, the steering wheel would not motor into driving position.

Happened again yest., this time the steering wheel woke up, but lock would not turn. Fiddling and cleaner squirt and off it went.
Would graphite powder improve this, or am I only delaying the inevitable?
Cheers!

EDIT: Happened again a few days after above. This time, gently rocking steering wheel while trying to turn key released it.
SHAZAM?

I could be wrong but I think it might be coincidence that messing with the key area works. This is usually an issue with it not registering that the transmission is in park. IE the range selector switch, also called the PRNDL switch. When it acts up, try shifting it into park a few times and really shove forward on the shifter to make sure it gets into park. If the key will turn off, I'd say you need a new range selector switch on the transmission.
(That's not to say the car won't go into park) I know it goes to park physically, but the computer doesn't know it is because a faulty signal from the range selector. You can also monitor this data live with a scanner and see if it's reading reverse instead of park when the issues is happening.
