Question about Aftermarket Injectors on NA-T Project

Hi guys, I'm gathering up all the parts for my 1993 SC300 5-speed NA-T project, and I will start a build thread once I get going. Shooting for 350-400 WHP with room to grow as I upgrade in the future.

So far, I have:
CX Racing GT35 kit
ECU Master EMU Black w/ adapter
Walbro 450 high pressure fuel pump
Driftmotion fuel rail (this one)
boost referenced fuel pressure regulator

My question is related to selection of aftermarket injectors. I'm not sure which style/connector I need! I'm looking at sizing between 1000 and 1500cc, maybe somewhere in the middle.

I'll be running e85 almost exclusively, so please keep that in mind. The fuel rail accepts 14mm domestic style injectors, and I've been trying to look at offerings from Snake Eater but there are many options on the "body style" and connector type.

I'm pretty confused now. Most of the older Na-T build threads have guys using stock or Toyota style injectors, so they were of limited use.

Any help is appreciated!

What made you want to go with a Driftmotion fuel rail and boost referenced fuel pressure regulator? Why not stay with oem FR and Reg? Trying to figure stuff out myself.

I'm planning to run e85 in this car because it is fun project and not something I will be daily driving. For e85, you need to use roughly 30% more fuel I believe, so going to a larger more universal injector and larger fuel rail opens up lots of options. As for the specific brand, no real reason. I was just ordering other stuff from their website and added in. Other companies make a similar rail. Some are more expensive, some are cheaper, but they let use use 14mm injectors.

As far as the FPR, it allows the fuel pressure to increase as boost increases. Likely not an issue at low power levels, but when I start going for 700-800, I want to make sure I'm good on fuel. I'm going to probably turn this car up pretty quickly and put a T-56 in it as soon as I break the W58, and I have a spare 2J that I'll fully build eventually.

If you are trying to do the most basic NA-T build, then you don't need the stuff I'm getting.

Interesting. We have similar goals. Currently trying to figure out -AN and pfte hose sizes. I already installed the walbro hellcat fuel pump, and have the 1000 ID injectors (not installed). I’m also going with the T-56 once the w58 snaps.

I will keep you updated. Judging by the lack of response to this thread, we may be in uncharted territory, so I'm sure others would appreciate the information we find out!

For sure.
This site ain’t like it used to be, but still helpful.

Okay, I finally heard back from several of the experts.

From Tim at Fuel Injector Clinic:
As far as the plug style, most aftermarket injectors will feature the Uscar/EV6 style plug. For the body you listed domestic for your fuel rail, so a LS1 type injector as far as fitment.

From a link Aaron at Drifmotion sent me:
A Bosch-based EV14 body will work, and most come with an EV1 style connector.
The connector isn't as important because there are adapters available (both for plug and play, and the pigtails that you need to solder).

I'd say strength. T-56 is pretty much the gold standard for a tough, manual transmission. Also lots of aftermarket support.

CD009 should work from the limited research I've done. Basically a more budget-friendly transmission with less aftermarket support.

Crackedsc4 Jun 13, 2021 07:12 PM

aren't the t-56 sequential though.cd009s are usually harvested from 350zs but what the donor usually for t-56s

Turbostar Jun 13, 2021 08:18 PM

No, T-56 are not all sequential. As far as donor cars, they are only found in very high performance vehicles (Vipers, some Vettes and Cobras...stuff like that.) You probably aren't going to find this in a junkyard. This is a tranny that most folks usually buy brand new.

yeah i thought as much you almost never see em in budget builds
