hello every1,


i just got a 1997 sc400 a couple of months ago. i've been working bit by bit to have it in good working order. so i've been having an issue with the check engine light, when i scanned the car i got return codes for a 02 system error. i planned to rebuild the whole intake & exhaust system. i got an air intake box and maf from a 1993 sc400 and found that there were totally different in appearance. i would like to know if that maf is interchangeable from the one i have in my 97 sc400. i tried looking for the appropriate forum thread for this question however i was unable to locate it. i've just started learning DIY for my car so do bear with me with my insufficient knowledge. thanks in advance to anyone who would be able to answer this for me.

 

Maybe check mylparts.com or lexuspartsnow.com or one of the other good online parts suppliers and see if the part numbers are the same. Just one way, I am sure there are others.

 

tnx for the feedback. check both of the sites that you mentioned. in mylexusparts the two items have different part numbers, however in mylparts, the item shown is only the one for the '93 sc. so for now i'll assume that they can be swapped and try from there unless i get a different answer aside from referring to part numbers. will update this thread regarding results in any event that some1 may also have the same question.

 

here are the photos of the mafs that i mentioned, the 1st one would be from the '93 and the 2nd would be the one from the '97.

 

If someone has an alldata subscription to those models they could check the wiring diagrams and the sensor Ohms to see if same. I don’t, if it were a 300 I maybe could figure it out. Good luck with solving.

 

They are not interchangeable. You will need another 1996 or 1997 MAF.

 

just to check, if i do opt to use the '93 maf, are there any other items i would need to replace on my '97 sc400??? because as i was doing research the parts (intake) for the '93 appear to be cheaper and easier to source compared to the '97.
