High Mount Brake Light bulb replacement
Can anyone tell me how many light bulbs are in the High Mount Brake light unit located inside the rear window behind the rear seat? My dashboard rear light out sensor comes on but only when I press the brakes. All my rear lights work including brake/ backup up etc..., and the left & right High Mount Brake lights come on as well. Question, is there a center bulb in the High Mount Brake light unit? If anyone can let me know I believe it would solve my problem.

The center brake light on the parcel shelf is LED, not bulb. I know it has at least two banks, but there might be further divisions.
Do you have LED bulbs in your tail lights? The different resistance of those vs stock might trigger the dash warning. It might also be that you have a bad/wrong lamp failure module in the trunk (or the flasher module under the dash, maybe?).

I don’t have LED’s in the tail lights although, I do have LED’s for my license plates. There are 2 LED’s there but I don’t know know if the dashboard sensor has anything to do with them. I have a 1993 Lexus SC300, I wasn’t aware they used LED’s back then. My flasher lights work perfectly as do all the lights. One thing though, the dashboard sensor sometimes doesn’t come on, it’s an intermittent thing. Question, when a bulb is going out but not yet there, will this trigger the sensor?

I don't believe the license plate lights are part of that circuit. Gauge cluster lights (if that's what you meant by dashboard sensor) go out all the time and don't affect anything, other than not being able to see what they're supposed to illuminate. Bad fuses generally keep things from working, rather than trigger warnings.
Do you by any chance have non- '92-94 tails on your '93? Lots of people swap in the '95-96 style or ebay tails, which will cause some of those problems.

No, all tail lamps are original. Just changed out interior lights with LED’s as well as license plates lights. I don’t know know if it’s a short in my electrical system but everything works, just the dashboard sensor coming on intermittently. Could it be the sensor I’ve heard some folks have mentioned, the one in the trunk on the left hand side? Some people have suggested those go bad.
