Resolved issue with factory alarm going off whenever unlocking the car with the key. In my case it only happened when unlocking from the drivers side door. Included in the post is information from the factory service manual and some photos I took along the way.

Tools Needed:
8mm socket
1/4" 10mm
1/4" Extension (6")
10mm wrench
Plastic trim tools.
Flat Head



first things first is determining if the sensor attached to the back of the lock cylinder is the actual issue. Remove your door panel (or if the issue is the trunk lock, gain access to that)





perform the continuity checks on the sensor wiring (above). the sensor harness connector is towards the bottom of the door, by the door lock actuator harness.

the easiest way to remove the sensor is to remove the outer door handle. its fairly simple.
Pop the clips off of the lock rods (yellow and pink) *seen above*
Remove the left and right bolts holding it to the door *use a 10mm socket with extension*
Remove bolt holding lock cylinder to handle. *use a 10mm wrench*
at this point the handle will come out very easily. there is a white zip-tie that holds the sensor on apart from the two clips. *take note of the zip-tie location for your new one*
the new sensor has a notch on it where it will line up on the back of the cylinder.
Re-install everything in reverse order. Verify you can turn your key/lock (if you can't, the zip tie may be in the wrong place and restricting the rotation)


Here is a picture of the sensor disassembled. the wiring and contacts on the main part were still good but, the only thing i could thing think of was maybe the contact points where the two pieces mate were getting worn out.

One thing I would add: You may need to loosen the rearmost window track to gain access to the door handle bolt through the peep hole. Otherwise, I found it to be a bit of a contortionist act, getting to it via the access panel.
