Nak CD Changer died, need guidance

My 12 disc Nak (matsu****a/pioneer) died. I Googled and tried to find a repair place, but no one I reached repaired these 12 disc changers anymore. I searched here about replacing the CD changer but the threads I found were very old and recommended replacing the 12 disc with an older model 6 disc which is now, even more impossible to find.

No one sells new changers anymore, so I really don’t know what to do. I want a CD changer, I don’t want to change out my Nak system. My car is an original low mileage car and I’d like to keep it as original as possible. I’ve seen some 12 disc changers on EBay, but I wouldn’t think they would be any more reliable than the one I had.

What options do I have at this point for replacing my CD changer that don’t involve cutting wires or replacing the factory head unit?

Place a WTB ad here on CL under the SC300/400 area and someone might have a spare.

^^ Yep. Make an ad in the Clublexus Marketplace in the 1st generation SC300/400 section. Occasionally a Nakamichi changer may show up on eBay also.

If your car came with the factory Pioneer stereo I'd have suggested the pricey Beat-Sonic SLA-10B aftermarket stereo plug and play adapter kit IF you were to consider an aftermarket head unit... but since your car came with the factory Nakamichi stereo I believe it is incompatible with your wiring. So a moot point. On my factory Pioneer stereo SC I'm using that adapter and it was plug and play with no original wiring modification. But unfortunately there is no available plug and play adapter for the factory Nakamichi SC's.

As Zerodrag suggested, to stay totally stock, make a WTB ad and see if anyone has a working Nak changer that you can install.

The factory CD changers have been known to fail over time and sadly there aren't many places that repair them these days.

Done. I now have a WTB ad.

Found on EBay and bought it. It survived shipping and works! It doesn’t look as nice as my old one, but it’s functional.
