Sc400 supercharged, blowing smoke out of pcv and elbow.
hey guys, I have a 93 sc400 that is supercharged. I’m a mechanic so I get some smoke coming from here is normal, but this is an extreme amount of smoke. Oil leaks out of cold air intake when I shut it off. I have to add a quart of oil every 50 miles or so. I have seen many threads on this topic but I think this is an extreme situation. The only thing I can think is the rings are shot and sc is dumping boost into crankcase. But then I read these motors are indestructible. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas!

You are correct that the UZ line is very robust. The thing you arent accounting for is aging/wear-and-tear along with the motor is now doing something that it wasn't originally designed for, run in positive pressure. Have you tried a leakdown test or a compression test to get a baseline of the engine's health? I would suspect if the motor hasn't been opened up two things are occurring; First, seals, gaskets and rings are starting to wear. The second is that now you have wear on the motor, blowby is increasing under boost; something that the motor (even if it were brand new) wasn't setup to do. If you arent into trying a leakdown test, try removing the PCV and install an atmospheric vented catch cant to the valve covers and see how much oil is being collected. This will give you a de-facto way of seeing the health of your rings.
