Default What is this vacuum line?

I have a vacuum line open and sticking up that I can't figure what it's supposed to be doing, if it's supposed to be coonncted to something or what.

there is a vacuum actuator that this line is attached to with a second port/male spud that has no line on it.

the line that is sticking up is 2 pieces with a very small bore orifice in it. I thought possibly the line should do a u turn to the other spud but the line will not make the bend. Doesn't make much sense to me either.

That plugs directly into the Flux Capacitor, located near the rotater splint.

Looks like somebody bypassed the vsv for the heater control valve.

Can you elaborate? what's the vsv? why would it be bypassed? is there some failure I should be looking for?

I do notice the default on my HVAC control is recirc, not fresh.

I can't 100% confirm this based on your pictures, but I am almost sure the hose plugged into your heater control valve is coming directly from the vacuum source. It is supposed to be connected to one side of the vsv (the electric operated vacuum valve) that has the small open hose on it. The small hose would then connect to the heater control valve. If that is indeed the case, then somebody bypassed the vsv due to an issue with the heater. I can't recall which way this works, but when you connect vacuum directly to the heater control valve, it either stays on all the time or is off all the time. Maybe somebody on here can clear that up. With all of that said, you would need to find out why it was bypassed initially because somebody did that due to an issue either with no heat or heat all the time. This would not have anything to do with recirc/fresh.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my various threads.

Currently I either have heat or not. When I rotate the heat control **** to the first point, lowest heat setting (18 degrees celcius, Canadian car) I get more heat than I want. When driving from the east coast i was turning the heat on and off at about 5 minute intervals. Not having AC didn't help.

I suspect I'm going to be harvesting heater parts from my parts car.

You all can look forward to more posts and puzzlements when I get back home and crack into this...
