Default 1994 Lexus SC 400

I have a sc400, when I first got it it would skat. After about 4 days of having it now it barely wants to go and it eats gas like crazy, when it didn't before and smells of gas bad enough to make you sick. When I go to accelerate it takes forever to shift thru the gears (it's automatic). Does anybody have any ideas of what it may be causing this? It's also a v8 but for a v8 it was very good on gas when I got it. There's no check engine light on so I'm confused as to what could be going on. Please help guys?

I have been told it could be driver side coils, vacuum line in the gas tank, all kinds of things. I'm just not sure where to start even looking. This is my first car that I'm working on my self. I know some basics about cars but again trying to learn more so I can work on my car myself. Please if anybody has any ideas or advice let me know. Thanks in advance y'all!
