Tuning up my '92 SC300

Default Tuning up my '92 SC300

My SC300 is currently at a Toyota dealership, getting new valve cover gaskets and distributor gasket. While it's there, told them to replace the timing and serpent belts, since I'm the second owner and getting close to 120K.
Anyway, I inquired about a tuneup and they wanted $300 just for the plugs and another $300 for the labor, new wires, rotor and cap. My question here, is can I get by with just doing it all myself, by just changing out the cap, rotor, plugs and wires? I've never understood the timing light procedure and don't have one anyway. Think I'll buy me a decent torque wrench, since I've been taking on more and more of my own tinkering, as YouTube has been very helpful. What should I torque the plugs too?
Finally, if anyone can recommend what to purchase in regards to the tuneup items. I'm a 60 year old man that drives like an 85 year old, but do use my blinkers.

That's ludicrous. Plugs and wires should be zero extra labor if doing the valve cover gaskets simultaneously. And $300 for parts is awfully high, even by dealership standards. I used NGK plugs (BKR5EIX-11) & wires (TE120) in my SC300 for under $90.

Unfortunately, it's probably too late to do the valve cover gasket and distributor o-ring yourself. They're around $30 total in parts. The two tough parts of the job are removal of the intake y-pipe and throttle body coolant lines. My EGR failed literally the day before I was going to tackle the job, so I ditched it. Putting everything back together was a breeze, as it's the EGR spaghetti that makes things difficult to access. To add insult to injury, you have to remove the y-pipe to remove the EGR. I also eliminated the TB coolant line -- you may not want to, being in colder CO -- turning a several hour job into a several minute job for next time.
