Default My homemade 1uz vvti intake

First off I've search plenty about aftermarket intakes for the vvti 1uz but the prices are ridiculous to me so I wasn't about pay for them, and I just don't like the way the bfi looks. Total I spent less than $80 on everything. Car is way louder now and sounds great. Response is definitely better but of course hardly notice any extra real hp. Heat shield will come in the near future.

Looks like nice work, and the lack of the resonator box definitely gives things a cleaner appearance.

Thanks guys. As for performance, nothing really noticeable besides better throttle response.

If an aftermarket intake gives you a seat of the pants performance increase then the engineers who originally designed it really ****ed up. Likely the performance is down right now (again, not noticeably) because the stock intake sucks in cold air from the front of the car, this one warm air from the engine bay. But the sound and response are great, and for the most part well worth it.

looks well done, what air filter are you using?

Power could be down but like u said it's not noticeable, it just makes the enginebay look cleaner. Im using an k&n filter.

Is that supposed to be a rarity or something?

You should post up a parts list and DIY. I've been looking for one for my sons 99 and I like this much better than anything I've seen.

Thanks. I actually thought about doing an build thread on it but didn't think anyone would be interested. I'm planning to redoing some small things on it and when I do I'll take some pics and do a parts list.

Here's something relevant I just ran across:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...-included.html

Of note, there was no evident power loss above 4k RPM by removing the intake resonator in test 1, essentially replicating what SC300_704 did. The gains are pretty consistent above that point, but there's that odd dip around 3850-4000 RPM. Too bad we can't see what's going on below 3750.
