Can you tell me what this ruined plug was?
I just bought the car, finally! So I'm going through the basics, determining what is right and wrong with the vehicle and I found this loose plug on my engine harness and I'm hopeful somebody will identify it for me.
The uncovered damaged plug is in the center of the photo

Dude,
That is your Toyota diagnostics port. You test voltages and activate the computer diagnostics display from there. This is a pre OBDII diagnostic device. It is missing a plastic cover and is likely still functional.

Dude,
I neglected to mention there's a second diagnostic port in the lower left corner of the dashboard, above and to the left of the brake pedal. You have to bend down low to find it. It's round and has a cover on it. Sometimes it's more convenient to test from inside the car, sometimes when you're in the engine bay. They perform the same function.

I've seen a few diagnostic port caps snapped off the hinge and flipped around. Lexus sort of dropped the ball with the way they oriented it, making it open the wrong direction. OP, at the very least, you'll want to get a replacement cap to: a) keep it dry and clean inside, and b) have the chart of which pins are which.
