Default sc300 stuck in park

about a month ago my battery was to weak to start motor, just barely would turn over , so when i went to push it out of garage so icould jump it i could not get it out of park. tried everything i could think of, but ended up calling tow truck to come out and jump it for me( my cables not long enough to reach.) once it got started went into gear fine, but since then it has locked up a few times now when i first start car? i will shut it off and back on sometimes that works or i tap pedal or wiggle / jiggle stuff , mixed results . once i had to leave it on the street & came in morning & worked fine? all my brake lites work? im lost i replaced battery same day it first died

I'm not sure what would be causing that, but there's a release button on upper left portion of the shift bezel to get it out of Park without the key in the ignition. Some of them have a partial blanking plate that you stick the key in to press down underneath.

thanks...i just figured that out yesterday....while i was trying to troubleshoot problem. im thinking maybe in the ign. switch . or i heard that there might be some kind of sylinoid beetween the brake switch and shifter lock.? would be nice if i could find some schematics or detailed pictures of those systems.........

OP - when you press the brake pedal , it activates a switch on the side of the shifter which locks the shifter in PARK position. If that switch is bad , that shifter will not move. Usually can be repaired, just disassemble and clean up. Check my build thread. I once had a problem with one of my SCs with regards that park lock switch.

here is the switch on the right side of the shifter

On my end I had to clean it up and straightened that metal pin, then reassembled it and things where good again
