Rear end gearing question

I have a 1UZ with a CD009 but the rear end gearing is just way to short. problem number one the 1UZ does not like to rev, its much happier staying below 4000rpm. I don't know what rear end is on it but at 45mph in 6th gear the motor is turning over at 2000rpm. I want it to do that a 70-80mph, so 6th gear is an overdrive. This gearing also makes the car very difficult to drive, just forget about using 1st gear smoothly.

I'm not concerned with speed. But i need to know the options i have and if anybody can tell me what is actually on the rear end.

Crusher, I'm assuming that you started out with an SC400 before 1998. Correct? The factory gear ratio in all 1992-1997 SC400's is 3.92:1. I believe it's been mentioned that the CD009 transmissions have gear ratios that are vaguely similar to the V160 which works well with GS400/98+SC400 3.26:1 in the 200mm GS/SC/MKIV-TT-Auto diff size.

From 3.92:1 you can go down to 3.77 (from a Supra TT Automatic or JDM Aristo 2JZGTE) or the 3.26:1. I think the latter is what most people doing a CD009 swap like to go with.

I can't comment on the engine not liking to rev. Are you sure there is no issue with the MAF or other sensor?

N/A 350z guys actually like to swap to a 3.91 gear or even a 4.08. The VQ isn't exactly a high RPM screamer either. The 1UZ should be pretty lively with a 3.9 maybe there's something wrong with yours?

get the gs400 3.2 ratio diff. if you think the 3.9 is way too short then the 3.76 wont cut it for you.
pretty much when you go 6 speed you go to a TT manual diff or the GS 3.2 ratio diff or you will be shifting all the time.

Thanks fellas.

The car is a 94 and has a stock diff on it. As far as it not liking to rev, it does rev freely and hard but it gets harsh above 4500rpm and starts to lose power. The intake manifold is the culprit. That tiny thing that Toyota deemed adequate chokes the life out of it. BTW i have a turbo VQ car and it sings between 4500-6200RPM after that its not too happy lol.
