Default Drive shaft parts question

Hi Guys, I'm replacing the front flex coupling on my 97 SC400. When I removed it I saw there was a bushing and seal on the drive shaft end, which pilots on to a thin shaft inside the trans. output flange.

Mine is (of course) torn up. I can't seem to find a part name or number for a replacement.

Does anyone know what this part is called, and whether it is available separately? I'd hate to have to buy a whole new front half just for that little bushing!

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,
M.R.

I looked on a couple of the Lexus dealer sites that sell parts and couldn't find it listed. Only show that part of the driveshaft as an assembly. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Apparently it's called a "centering sleeve" in BMW land. As for Lexus, I haven't called the dealer yet but I'm afraid they are going to try and sell me the whole drive shaft, when all I need is a bearing.

I'm also in need of a front flex coupling. That costs about $60 for every other car, but the least expensive one on E-bay is close to $200, and Lexus wants close to $400!

If anyone has any info, I would appreciate the help.

Are you talking about just the donut looking bushing with 6 holes? If so, they are fairly cheap, like under $200 everywhere. the part number is 37511-24010

I was referring to the bushing in the center of the shaft. there is one on both ends, and they pilot on to a small diameter pin in the diff. flange and trans output flange. It kind of looks like a spherical rod-end bearing, and is retained by a metal cap. As I said in my second post BMW calls it a "centering sleeve".

As for the flex coupling, apparently the ones for the 97 models cost the most, (the bolt pattern is smaller). I have been unable to find one for less than $300 new.

Similar to the genuine BMW rubber on the now extinct E30 and E36 which cost $60-$80. Pure rip off. Has anyone ever taken measurements of anything else that might come close to working?
