Default Telescope wheel

I have a 1996 SC400 i just bought and the steering wheel wont go down it will go side to side but when i try to make it go down it just makes a cranking noise and wont go down. Does anyone know how to fix this or can anyone help?

I thought there was a diy on gear repair somewhere- mine is stuck all the way out but goes up and down- it's fine for me but this winter I'll pull it apart to see.

Yeah its not a seriuos problem but i would like to fix it, and i meant to say it will go forward back but not down up

There's a simple DIY for it here. You'll just have to find it. Think there's a complete DIY list in one of the stickied threads.

As long as both motors are good , then the problem is the worm wheel had sunk way down. Put a washer beneath it to raise it up and all those functions will come back to life.
