I'm not going to be one of those guys who just blindly tells you to search, so....

Start with this:
NA-T TT ECU Mod - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...t-ecu-mod.html

Then look at this:
Build Thread - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/build-threads-252/

Just about everything you are asking will be answered and you'll get a much better understanding of what you want to do by reading about it a little more in-depth.

you dont need a tt ecu mod its an option.. if you are looking for less than 500hp afc/vpc(or any other piggy back) is fine for your goal.
On stock injectors youll be limited to maybe 300hp. Ur better off upgrading to 550cc (rx7 stock injectors) also might want to add a aftermarket fuel pump.
Youre better off piecing a kit together (cheaper and you get what you want)

I HIGHLY recommend the TT ECU MOD if you plan on boost at all, the stock ECU will make your life a living hell!! Read the thread about it, its straight forward and with OEM drive ability. It also answers the questions about the IAT, injectors etc etc.. Its practically a recipe for 400+ HP.. I can't comment on ^^^ these guys experience but trust me, you'll end up going this route after you learn the hard way..

They are two separate things. In VERY simplistic terms, a piggy back will work in conjunction with the ECU while a standalone unit will replace the ECU.

Depends on who you ask. Some will say that if you want to run any boost at all on a GE then you need to convert to a TT ECU. Doing this you don't even need a piggy back (just matching components like bigger injectors, etc), but in your case you will lose automatic lockup on your transmission. Others say that you can use the stock GE ECU with a piggy back just fine. Up to what power level, I have no idea. Just relaying some info I've heard on this from people who have done it successfully in the low 300HP range.

A good piggy back option would be something like an Apexi SAFC-II or the NEO. Expect to pay anywhere from $150 - $500 depending on new/used condition and where you buy it.

A good standalone unit will probably run you $1500 used to $2000+ new.

Yes, you DO NOT want piggyback on the ge ECU, it constantly reads and adjusts air/fuel and its just a nightmare.

The stock GE headgasket is kind of a toss up. If you have high miles its just worth trading it out for another or get a GTE gasket to drop your compression a bit. The stock GE gasket has seen 500+hp and quite a bit of boost but I don't recall a definite answer on a where the ceiling is.

There are many examples of the lock up issue being fixed, just search it man. This thread is your best friend, within the first couple pages you'll have allllllll your answers, I did, and so did everyone else lol..
