Default 93 sc400 Knock sensors

Hey all, I'm still working the bugs out of the SC I picked up needing a starter, the starter is done and the car runs great, with the exception of the knock sensors triggering "limp mode" Now, the car is missing the Cat back exhaust, so its kinda loud(sounds awesome, I will add) could this be triggering the sensors? I sure do not hear a knock, ping, etc etc, The motor is as smooth as silk. The weird thing is, this does not always happen, seems to do it sometimes while taking off(not always) If I turn the car off for a second, it goes right back to normal mode

I sure hate the thought of tearing back into it to replace the sensors, if there is something else causing it.

Is there a way to replace knock sensors without taking intakes off?

not sure where the knock sensors are but if you are replacing your starter then off comes the intake.

Yes sir, did that last week. knock sensors are right beside starter if I had known there was a problem with them, they would have already been delt with

If the starter swap is already done, you probably don't want to repeat essentially the identical disassembly to access the knock sensors... Most likely, the sensors are good, anyway. I'm betting the problem is your ECU. When the capacitors leak or water gets in there, the inputs for the knock sensors are likely to get damaged due to their location.

dsls sorry I thought you meant you had to replace the starter. Did you do the starter replacement yourself?
