I have also been considering swapping the tran. Wouldn't just simply switching out the ecu's be possible?

ECU and trans controller are one in the same, no separate computer.

Default Correct

Yu are right, my last effort was to transplant a 7MGTE into a Cressida so this has to be possible, just have to seek the right advice and expertise.

i think the simplest thing to do would be to try to run the older engine with the newer ECU, or a standalone, somehow, or somehow 2 ECUs at the same time lol.

A 7MGTE has a separate ect controller. Its not housed in the ecu.
