Default SC400 Mods and Maintenance

I am making a new thread here so as to not clog up the main section.

I plan to do mostly maitenance and restoration. However, we all love to tinker right? I will be doing only basic modifications. I don't want to ruin the touring nature of this car. It must be able to drive smoothly every day to work and back. It must also pass the wife test! Here is my list that (which will probably change often):

Intake:

- Air intake duct : Simple duct from front grill to airbox. Considering this car lives on the freeway, it should enjoy the constant rush of air @ 75MPH. (It rarely rains here)
- Resonator delete : Any Toyota I have ever had, I always chuck the resonator. I hate that it covers the left side of the engine. This is mostly for cosmetics and ease of accessing the engine/TB. I know that this has been debated, spare me the lecture.

Exhaust:

- 3rd Cat delete : After smog I will be running a custom Y pipe from the bottom of the primary cats to the rear midpipe flange, deleting the 3rd cat. I may or may not remove the resonators at the rear. Either way I will be keeping the OEM mufflers to not attract attention.

Other:

- Supra TT bits : 17" OEM wheels, etc

Dream mods (Things that I won't actually do but want to):

- Supra LSD
- OEM Soarer front lip

I am using a duct that connects to the stock airbox inlet.

This soarer SS induction unit goes to the front bumper center.

However, to keep things simple, mine will just go straight down to the front passenger side grill. Something more like this (shorter of course):

look into BFI instead for your intake, more tubing and ducts is never good.

I am familiar with BFI and it's benefits. This is just something I wanted to try for myself out of curiosity.

My version is very short, not like the picture above. I will have to get a mock up going, so you can see what I mean.

Before you do too much work on that intake, pop the passenger headlight out and you'll be surprised at how good of an air acquisition point there is directly below it. All you have to do is scoop air up into the existing snorkel to take advantage of the factory design. Follow the link in my sig for more details.

I am using the area under the headlight. I'm just adding a duct that goes straight down to the area under the headlight from the airbox inlet.

Oh, so nothing like the SS one you pictured. Carry on, then.
