Default cel code 52 on a lexus sc 300

I had a cel code of 52..which is a knock sensor number1....I read a bit about it and it said that the knock sensor could cause a lost of power...which is how my car feels right now...This problem is comming from my 92 lexus sc300...so does actually changing out the knock sensor will kill my cel??? Lmk...

Yes a knock sensor can cause a loss in power, but generally will at times kill the engine. Replacing them is pretty simple, but if that is the code your getting then as soarer stated, check the condition of the wires first. If they are good, then replace the sensor.

You can probably get the plug with pigtail from toyota but you cannot just buy a wire and simply install. Like i mentioned above check to see if the wire looks brittle if not then replace the sensor.

you can probably get the sensor from a parts store but you cannot get the plug.

I had this issue. It happened to me because I was taking off the intake manifold, got frustrated and yanked on it without realizing there were still things plugged in. Needless to say several plugs ripped, I fixed them with *additional thicker gauge* (wrong) wire, and the circuit fault codes were trigged. Went back and removed the extra wiring and soldered stock to stock and its gone. Sometimes a cheap sensor may cause that too i've heard

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you're gonna have to completely remove the intake manifold to be able to do your best job at fixing the wiring and even removing the sensor.
