Default Cailforinia model 92 sc400?

Hey all got my 92 sc400 from my father who treated it like one of his children. He always said it was rarer because it was a California model. It is mine now he died a few years ago and it has been a project since but another guy told me last week hey that is a California build. So what does that mean and how would you know that and does it even matter. It was built in 12/91 and is number 582 . thanks Mike

It means it has an extra catalytic converter that needs to be thrown out if you do a big build.

It's nothing special. Just has cali emissions, which can be viewed as either a good or a bad thing.

Yup, mine is a Cali car too. I'm unsure whether the extra cat is still there, there's one on each half of the true dual setup, right about below the dash in location. I actually found out when Darryl redid my ECU and was like, "uhh, this is a cali ECU, I checked and you have a cali car". Not a big deal in terms of value or perceived rarity.

So the first thing I did when I got it was cut the one cat off in the middle area under front seats and left the two coming off the header pipe so I guess it is not a cali car anymore lol......thanks for the info guys Mike
