1jz vvti sc400 no check engine light
Hey Guys,
i am on the home stretch of wiring in my SC400 1JZ VVTI conversion and have one strange problem. i can't get the CEL output of the ECU to come on. The CEL pin to the cluster is wired from the ECU to pin IK2-9 which what all the diagrams point at, but the VVTI ecu is not turning the light on. I believe (based on the wiring diagrams) that the ecu is a sinking output which means it grounds the CEL to trigger it, can anyone confirm? i am getting 12V coming down to IK2-9 so i know it is coming through the gauge cluster, but it is just not grounding in the ECU. i should try just grounding that pin to see if the CEL turns on on the cluster too.
i did get the car to fire up for the first time today though!

well i figured it out. i somehow decided EGW is the right pin for the check engine wire, instead of W, which is what it should be. one of the spreadsheets i found here guided the CEL to be hooked to that, another said to ECU connector H pin 3 which is W, which is the CEL output.
for anyone's references the EGW is for exhaust gas temp warning light on dash (if your car has one).
all good now, only got code 47 after connecting battery, for the traction control throttle position since i ripped all that out. time to figure out a resistor mod for that.
