Hey guys I just struck a deal with a guy on craigslist for a w58 complete swap from japan out of a low kilometers mkiv supra. Before attempting this swap that I know nothing about. I wanted to put a new clutch kit and new gasket. I was wondering what clutches you guys recommend? Just through the knowledge ive gained from cl sounds like 6 puck clutches kill w58's

Car: My car is stock besides intake and exhaust and about to install ffim, I wont be going turbo for atleast another 1 1/2 years. I dont race but drive aggressively. It is daily driven most the time. Shoot me your opinions guys.

1) I would wait on doing a ffim until you have a standalone and a turbo. you will have very very bad throttle response and I believe the stock ecu cannot use a ffim since you have to change your iac and other parts.
if n/a keep the stock intake. it produces more torque at lower revs than a ffim can.

2)I would just go with a beck arnley one if you are staying stock. I got my replacement oem kit for ~50 bucks with all the parts and pieces I needed

why does everyone want to install a ffim right away? its pointless unless you are pushing big power

Power wasnt the reason for the ffim, just cleaner engine bay. Not sure that ill ever go for the 4 to 500 whp level. And I appreciate the advice, I knew about the loss of throttle response but did not know about the ecu. More importantly where did you get that kit?

haha I got it from orilleys actually...
kinda needed one asap (clutch was gone and had to move the car to storage the next day before the 1st winter storm hit), and they were the only store in town who had one.

and IMO... once you take the stock intake off once or twice you can get it off in 10 minutes or so and why would you need a cleaner engine bay? are you going for a show car look?

The ffim is not at all a priority, I just like the clean look. Trans swap is priority number 1. Soon as I pick it up I want to put new clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. Also the main seal. After that im going to work on that trans swap. Hopefully it dint take longer then a week or so.
