Default Custom Cone Air intake (1UZ)

A while back I made a very similar intake for a 350z so I decided to make one for the SC. I am a fan of the benefits of a cone air filter not just in a performance stand point but a fuel economy aspect as well. i also prefer the OE look over the flash n dash look, so I combined them both!
Here is what I made!!!

Factory Air Box

Fabricating Intake

Resealing the Box

Installed on the Car

Thanks for looking! If you have any questions just send me a PM.

So are you actually seeing any power or mpg gains? Or is I just butt dyno gains?
I have the eBay BFI on my 400 and always advocate for it. I can attest to the butt dyno gains it gives, not to mention it sounds like death is ripping open a hole to the underworld under my hood when I floor it.

^I got the ebay BFI and don't notice any improvement in the MPG. It does sound better, but I notice my air box has much more dirt particles then usual which worries me Honestly feels like money down the drain, and it was a pain in the *** install too.

Because I am using the factory box I don't have any more dirt or dust build up. Yes I have seen a MPG gain of 2-3mgp, no noticeable power increase accel is more responsive and it has the deep sound that you are talking about. I'm sure if I did a BFI I would have better gains but I prefer the factory look.

I like that intake. It's cool how it still has that factory look.

Thanks Hatchy400 for the great idea, not intentionally trying to revive an old threat, but did you need to utilize a Toyota MAF adapter to fit the cone filter? I eventally will do the BFI 3.3 from eBay, but would want to set up the APEXi or an AIRAID cone filter. Anyone may chime in, thanks CL.
