Default Center Cat Delete

Hi,

I plan to do some exhaust mods soon and I was thinking of deleting the center sub-cat and replace it with either a 2.25" pipe or maybe put a straight through resonator, and also deleting the two resonators before the mufflers. I also eventually will replace the mufflers.

Does deleting the center cat force any lights to go on? will it also effect emissions?

Thanks

I am pretty sure it will affect the emissions. If you decide to remove the center cat, use a 10 inch X pipe. Proven to give the best torque increase, if any.

sweet, I'll keep that in mind. Emissions wouldn't be affected to the point where I would fail the test right?

Wait a second, I thought that "center" catalytic converter was for Cali emissions only? I removed my Y-Pipe only to find out that the entire cat is empty.

in illinois if your car is older than 95 you don't need to go through emissions at all. so check your regulations first, might not even have to worry.

Is this guy working on an SC3 or SC400? Im assuming hes talking about the main ct. where the to exhaust pipes come off the engine and join together.

That is more of a resonator, its an open pipe with packing around the edge. 2000 SC4s are hard to find, enjoy.

A little update:
Yea, the center is a resonator and I decided to do an almost cat back exhaust. I did an x pipe and from the x, it goes straight into the mufflers with some new bends. The only thing I kept from the original exhaust are the mufflers because I was on a tight budget.

I like the way it sounds now, but how restrictive are the stock mufflers performance wise? I've hear people say they are free flow and I've hear people say they are restrictitive.

shine a light into the tip, it is a angle straight design, not much restriction
