Exclamation Problems with opening driver door all the way

I have a 92 sc400 that I bought about a month ago. For some reason the driver side door is having trouble opening all the way and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice what to do. Thank you

I think there is something wrong with the hinge but not sure. when i open the door, it gets stuck on the fender. had the fender pulled out so it can open a little better, but the door still hits the fender

ok that is the hinge. do a search for sagging and door hinge and you will see its a common problem. once you replace the hinge it will stop hitting the fender when its opening, and then it should open fine after that. may need a little fender repair though after its fixed.
there is also some info on this on soarer central its even a problem on JDM models.

try not to lean too hard on the door when getting out of the car, I have always thought that adds to the problem.
try and use the handles at the top instead to swing out of the seat tarzan style.

The hinge is one of the most intricate engineering on the entire SC.

So i pulled off my driver side fender so I can open my door all the way. I noticed that the door has some movement up and down. It also has some movement side to side. the door seems to get harder to open the further I open it

That means your hinge has seen better days. when the hinge is worn out, it doesn't open right and the door hits the fender. If you have to take the fender off to open the door all the way, the problem isn't the fender or the door, its the hinge, you need a new or good used one.
