Default Help! Seperate Problems or are they connected some how?

1993 SC400

On my way to work this morning I noticed the windshield whipers seemed slow (slight rain).
A few miles later the battery light came on, so I figured I needed a new battery. It happens, no big deal. My office is across the street from an auto parts store so I figured I'd park in the parking garage and go get the battery when I had time. Just for fun, I tried to start the car again. *click click click click click*. All the lights came on but would dim when I tried to start the car. I'm still thinking battery at this point. I disconnect the terminals for about 10 min, reconnect, and try again. It was tough but it started. Here is where I am having trouble. After it started my SC4 decided to idol from 1k to 2k, up and down, up and down. I checked under the hood for a vacuum leak and didn't see anything. When I got back inside the car, the oil light came on... What is going on!?

Are these problems related or did the car all of a sudden decided it had enough of this life?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

It's just your battery. Replace it and you will be fine, I would also get your alternator checked just to be safe.

Welcome to CL, please post maintenance or problem issues in the maintenance section.

battery died and reset the ecu, sometimes it can idle funny or rev wierd until it relearns, or you may have to reset the ecu again by disconnecting the battery.
oil light is not related, check and top off your oil. sooner the better really.

it can either be a bad/going bad battery, or since you have a sc400 they are famous for power steering leaking onto the alternator which sits right underneath the power steering. check your power steering pump area for wet spots as well as the alternator. if its soaked its probably that, if not try the battery.
