5.3L V8 swap question
Now I've read and searched many posts on this swap into Sc's and can't find the answer that i'm looking for...hopefully someone can shed a little light. I have a 5.3L v8 fully built top to bottom that i'm putting in Sc, the only thing I really need info on is the subframe/oil pan issue.
Now I know I can use a GTO oil pan but still requires either modification to the pan or the subframe and pan. But Boosted 4.6 said he did something different to make the engine fit over the subframe without destroying it, if I remember correctly he used an f-body oil pan and something else....i'm trying to figure out what that "something else" is while i'm gaining the rest of the parts for the swap.

Someone else on here did a 5.3L V8 swap or is in the process of attempting it. I don't know if his nickname here is Boosted 4.6 but I'd keyword for this swap into SC's in the search.
These swaps are a very new thing to see here. I'd love to see what your solution is to mounting up the engine.

The F-body oil pan is correct. Along with that, the rear part of the sub-frame (as pictured below) is what needs to be modified. Its easy, takes about 5 min and an angle grinder. Measure the width of the f-body pan (add a little room to each side for clearance), and remove the "bump" (green area marked in the pictures) to make it a flat surface. Sorry the pics are crude, but here you go:
Thats the jist of it. Ive been driving my LS1 swapped SC like this for a while now, and removing that material has no effect on the cars structural integrity.
Also depending on the mounts you go with, and which trans, you can also use the f-body drive shaft with a couple changes to the u-joint setup and an adapter for the diff. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a message. Im familiar enough with this swap, I can send you any part numbers you might need as well. Also, check my build thread, doesnt have alot of info, but some that may be of some good. I need to go back and edit it to help solve questions like these.
