Default temp gauge sender.. does it have a washer?

I know the 2 pin coolant temp sensor has a washer on it, but to the right of it does the 1 pin sender for the gauge have a washer also or not? Its a much bigger thread so I am not sure if it needs a washer and the diagram I found online showed a washer on the coolant temp but not on the sender. If anyone knows that would be great.

Use Teflon tape or equivalent. They come with that reddish Toyota thread sealant when bought new iirc.

Sensor has a washer, the sender does not. I have confirmed this on both GE and GTE, 1JZ/2JZ and the 7M.

Awesome, thanks guys I will use some thread sealant then on the sender. It almost feels like it bottoms out before it's all the way in thread wise as in a little gap to the head so that is why i was asking.

This is funny, I just ran into this today on my 1jz. I'm glad I'm not crazy, as I noticed the sender bottoming out, leaving a gap. I think it bottoms agains a chamfer and seals like a brake line flare. I did not notice any thread sealer on the threads fwiw.

I thought the same thing that it must seal at the inside lip because of the gap, so any thread sealer wouldn't be helping anything then. I'll take another look at it, if that's how it is supposed to be with the gap that clears up a lot for me. Thanks again I didn't want to have coolant spraying everywhere after first start.
