Just wondering if anyone knows how much work is required to get the ebay downpipe/midpipe to fit the Soarer 1JZ. Back in 2007 a guy said it needed to be cut and rewelded in a few spots to clear the motor mount, get the bolts to line up, and reach the pipe after the cat. But I think maybe the design has changed since then (or the ebay downpipes are different), because another guy said after a clean up and a quick cut-and-shut to bypass the steering rack it went in easily. There is a 4" available which fits properly but its $550, mild steel, and does not include the midpipe. The ebay is $200, stainless steel, and includes the midpipe.

If it were me i would just have a shop replicate a 3" stock 1jz downpipe with its stock flanges, that way itl bolt up to your stock exhaust system . Shouldnt cost much either. Maby 50-80$
But then again every shop differs on pricing

But if you insist i believe onejay, a member on here used aftermarket SS downpipe on his stock. I think he had to have a custom midpipe made to meet his downpipe to catback

 

not a bad idea, but the 1JZ guys say its that y-pipe that really makes a big difference because it is the most restrictive part of the exhaust. i figure if I'm gonna do it, might as well do the full exhaust. thanks for the link, sounds like the MK3 supra ebay one is a real pain. And I just read there might be a difference between LHD and RHD, so it might be an even bigger pain for me with RHD. I would have thought the chassis/motor mounts/steering rack would be the same on both RHD/LHD but maybe not..
