Need Clarification Re SC400 Shift Lever Repair
QUOTE=gtsfire;8104975]You will have to completely remove the entire shifter assembly to fix it. Once you have it out you'll have to remove a rubber boot, which I would advise replacing as well. There are 4 bolts connecting the shifter to the body of the car. When you get those out and lift up you'll need to unbolt it from the transmission lever, but BEFORE you do that get a piece of wire, tough string, fishing line, something and run it through the hole on the trans lever and tie it up so that it don't fall down beside the tranny.

I have my new bushings but before I get to far into repair I need clarification on comment above
in red. After removing the 4 bolts does the shift assembly lift up so I can remove the thru bolt
that holds the bushings or do I have to get under car and disconnect the lever arm that runs
to the tranny to allow the shift unit to be pulled up??
I really don't want to have to jack car up to complete this bushing replacement and am hoping
it can all be accomplished from inside car. If I do need to go under car, is the connection to the
tranny readily accessible or is there a cover plate
Car is 1993 SC400.
