Smile Sc300 "Ebay" Intake for those who are curious

Like the title says this is just for those people ever wondered about ebay intakes, a cheap "alternative"for a intake systems. Before hand there was only MAF adapters and intakes as kits, but it looks like ebay took a little step further and made a reasonable kit.
*Im not advertising ebay in any way just showing my result*

So here it is, under 50$ bucks some pros and cons

Pro:
Its cheap
Looks half decent
Gives you "Intake" sound
Easy install
maf adapter is decent quality

Cons:
Its cheap...
Filter is a Pile
Alluminum pipe is literly right on TOP of the exhaust manifold
After a 10 minute drive the pipe itself is preety hot.
(Im wrapping the pipe in Heatwrap to try and keep the heat out)

Solution:
My plans are to replace the carboard cone with at least a k&n filter, and wrap up the intake pipe, other than that its not to shabby, maby some black couplings aswell.

Pics:
Junk in the box

Whats included

Installed: sorry for the dirty bay, i got the car that way il be detailing some timesoon

Air is a poor conductor of heat. It goes through the pipe too quickly to absorb any heat from the intake so don't worry about wrapping it.

That's why the pipe stays hot even with all that cooler air flowing through it.

You should have done the BFI mod instead. Probably cost you about the same or less depending on what materials you have on hand, but it's lil more work. It has been proven to be the best intake option for our cars.

Thanks for the input. The reason i went this route was because the stock intake system was falling apart, held.by duct tape and couplings almost spliting in half. I agree with you that with the BFI there is a sort of gain amd with these little things its more than likely no effect or gain at all.

put the stock box back in and use the pipe and couplers as the center section. You are just sucking hot air in from the engine like that. Get a K&n drop in and do the BFI mod to the box.

Small update, its been wrapped for a while. More for aesthetics than functionality.
Cleaned up the bay a little aswell. For.a 50 dollar intake gets the job done, i cant complain.

Yup i need hood shocks

looks good, the wrap will actually help it act more like the stock pipe, which does a better job of not absorbing heat than aluminum, which is a good thing.
