Default oil tar sands under my valve cover

hey guys,

those of you who have imported a 1jz, how have you cleaned out the tar sands of sludge under the valve cover? I swapped the front sump to rear sump with the oil pan, and was able to get rid of all the sludge in there that way, but i really dont wanna pull my head..

wow thats a good amount of sludge in there. maybe block the holes on the head with something you can fish out and go at it slowly and carefully. If you have a stand to flip the motor upside down it would probably be alot easier to keep stuff from falling in while you clean it.

get a tub of purple power or other cleaner and soak / scrub the valve covers for about 24 hrs

Next time be wary of what you soak in purple power for that long, you will probably be fine but a quick search on google will give you more than a handful of horror stories from people soaking stuff with purple power. More to do with machined surfaces (like the parts in your head you cleaned) but still enough to make me very careful when using

I read that Purple power has Sodium metasiicate in it which has a super high PH and eats the **** out of everything good and bad.
