Thanks Ali....The car is intermittent....just went for another ride and it started up just fine and idled perfect again....then after about 15 min into a drive it started acting up.....stalled out a few times and would be bogging down and struggling to stay running and the check engine light would come on and go off and then it would drive like normal for a few minutes and then come back to barely running..

Air filter is brand new..double checked all vacuum lines for leaks...they seem okay. I took the whole intake off and cleaned out the inside of it with compressed air, etc.. etc.

It seems like it is misfiring and isnt getting sufficient fuel when it bogs down to the point of stalling once you come to a stop.

What affect will it have if I run the car without the o2 sensors plugged in?

Im starting to think it may be the TPS....because the idle is always inconsistent it is never the same and I have the TPS at its maxed out setting and my idle is still really low around 400 rpm. What symptoms usually indicate a bad TPS...I am going to go out and buy a multimeter to measure the voltage at some of the sensor connections....For a car that has 169K....I have decided I am just going to start replacing items with new sensors etc..

I went through wiring and everything finally decided to swap it out and that was it. It's pretty common for them to go bad. Since I've researched. First one I got was used and it was bad as well. Then I paid 650 bucks from the dealership. And it finally work. Not saying it is the problem. But it was the same symptoms I had going.

Oh I forgot to add. My ecu was bad as well. I swapped that first and then it started up fine but revved really low. Then I swapped the TPS. I would suggest checking out the ecu only if it doesn't start.

Thanks...for your repsonses....I have tried a different ECU before as well and it made my car run worse. I am going to move forward with replacing the o2 sensors first since they are relatively cheap around $30 a piece for the universal ones because I am betting they are still the original ones that came with the car and have 169k miles on them so why not replace them and then I may go the route of sourcing a TPS sensor. I will be ordering a new fuel filter and going to replace that as well...I figured it cant hurt as most of the parts are fairly cheap...some are just a PITA to do...but im up for the challenge

does the motor respond when you adjust the tps. if not it could be bad. if you have a multimeter and can measure the signal pin, it should vary with the throttle. if it just reads around 2.x volts the whole time without moving that also means its dead, cause with not tps plugged in thats what the tps signal reads normally, its like a default value.
