So many 1jz Sc's

So i notice a lot of SC's going the 1j swap route rather than the 2j swap, and it makes me wonder what goes through these people's mind when they do this, or is there something i'm missing? i understand the 1j is cheaper in cost but with all the rebuilds you'll be doing on it just to make the amount of power a stock 2j with a bolt on kit and lets say some cams you're digging deeper in your pockets. Why are so many swaps being done with a 1j rather than a 2j other than it being cheaper? what's the secret???

Do I need to answer this question???????

INTIMAZY 07-22-13 03:26 PM

The only time a 1JZ needs a rebuild is when the turbo sucks up a pair of panties that just dropped while reving to 8500rpm on a stock bottom end.

high rev or high horse power. its like a girl with big boobs (1jz) or a big butt (2jz).

You do know that in Japan the Soarer (SC) comes with a 1jz instead of a 2jz-ge right....?

EDIT: UZZ soarers excluded

Sc300 oil change 130000

Hey guys i just bought a 98 Sc300 with 130,000... I was going to buy to sell, but i drove it for a week and im in love with the car. So now im in the long process to restore it because cosmetically its trashed. (in the near fuiture I will put up picks for opinions)

So anyways, The car has been sitting in the front of their home for a couple of years, and serviced a year ago but ran less than 3k miles that year...(I saw the Tire Kingdom receipts).

They told me they have used synthetic most of the cars life but once they purchased a new car they neglected it. The last couple of years [[3 or 4yrs...(2 or 3 oil changes)]] he just took it to the mechanic and didn't ask questions.

I live in Miami so its always hot and the car has 130000 miles....What oil should I use?:uh:

Thank You, Alex

yes i am aware the soarers have a 1jz but the sc doesnt come with a 1jz unless you buy a soarer. so when people do the swap why go 1j when you have the option to go bigger?

Drive a 1jz SC and a 2jz SC and feel the difference yourself. Unless you race the car and max it's potential out it doesn't really matter.

From what I've heard I would recommend not using synthetic, if regular oil was used going back to synthetic could create leaks....and more problems. Honestly people say they used synthetic all the time, when they haven't, just use good non synthetic oil and you should be fine. Check for leaks.

Ha this is funny, if I had a nickel for every thread you didn't search for on this exact question... There's no right or wrong answer here besides you assuming things. Some want peace of mind with a turbo ready engine with less tuning, some want more potential without touching internals, some wanna rev higher, the list goes on. Personally, I have 242k on my tired GE motor so I'm doing maintenance and preparing all the suspension for when I swap into something younger, or if I build this engine, who knows. We have so many options and all are very strong. To each their own, do what makes you happy. Or, research and copy someone else, either way it sounds like you have some reading to do before you'll ever safely handle 4, 5 or 600+ HP
