Default Grinding sound from shifter, also transmission flush?

First post here, I have a 1995 SC400
I just noticed the other day im getting a grinding type noise from right under the shifter. I only hear the sound when the car is in neutral and im coasting at about 40mph, you can hear it, also at times when the car is in drive and you initally put pressure on the accelerator to get the car to move in gear. Any thoughts?

I was also thinking about tackling doing a trasmission flush on the car myself. I will have to do more research but the car has 240k on it, and it was flushed at 60k, and 160k. I was told that i needed to add the toyota smooth shifting additive to the ATF mix as well, but i figure that i would replace the gasket, filter, and ATF. Is there a drain plug on the pan to make this easy?
