It drives perfect. I haven't thought of that but I'll do it today.

usually an ignition not up to par like a bad rotor or cap or plugs can cause it. also bad o2's can cause it.

How do I rule out o2's? My distributor, cap and rotor is literally brand new. I bought one while it was down because I thought that was the problem.

Grump; you really know ur way around ur SC. Can u fix my cluster gauge?
Just kidding!
I car wash my engine about twice a yr, I just don't turn it off & then drive it till there's no water on it. That doesn't take long. I've never had a problem.Maybe that helps

i'd be leaning towards the 02 sensors being the culprits, if their signal is not fluctuating (bouncing up n down) then its not reading properly. Whats the mileage on your car?

Horrible milage. But I just checked one of my o2 sensors. It was stuck on .78 volts. I remember from school that it had to bounce everywhere between .00 to 5.0 volts. But I'm not using an oscilloscope just a small voltmeter. But anyways, I tried replacing the o2 sensor and upon removal, one of the screws was stripped coming out. So now I need to either put a bolt and hope it doesn't strip this one or tap and die the thread. :/

Yeah. This car has given me nothing but problems since I bought it. But I love it. I love everything about it. I bought it out of impulse for 2300, I was going to drive to California from vegas to buy another one but that day I saw a new one posted on Craigslist and went to check it out. I guess I just wanted an sc so bad I didn't care of the condition it was in. Some crap little kid owned it and never even changed the light bulbs, not to mention the oil, spark plugs, or registration and more. I got pulled over driving it home with his plates. Cop told me that the plates were expired for 2+ years.
But no the valve covers aren't leaking. Right now I just really really want to pass smog legally then I will go to fully maintain the engine and tranny and diff and everything else.
