Default sc400 cranks but wont fire up.

Just got done with an oil change and a new clamp on one of the leaking ps hoses. It was idling really high when I turned it off last a few hours ago. It does that when it hasn't been drivin in awhile, also the trac and engine light were on when I turned it off. Im guessing its the IAC so I started to take that apart and the 3rd bottom Philips screw is rounded, got the dremel and im half way through it... disconnected the batt for awhile but that didn't work either, I know its something simple...

any suggestions

I put everything back together, still didn't start! so I tapped (with a screwdriver) on the top of the IAC valve, unplugged the MAF sensor then plugged it back in, and started right up! wtf

Maybe all you needed was to reset the ECU...

sometimes it idles high, and sometimes its perfect, car hasn't been driven much at all in the past 10 years, just trying to get it reliable for a daily driver. I'm going to take it out tonight for a 70 mile ride and see how it does..

Just out of curiosity, how many miles each year does it average? My SC is literally only taken to church on weekends, sometimes not even that often. Put about 800 miles on it each year...

Idle on mine is a bit high, maybe due to being driven so rarely...

It wont start again.
Just drove it to get a burger, turned it off at the place, When I got home. I parked it and shut it off, for kicks I tried to start it again and nothing... it just turns & cranks... its a brand new batt so it cranks fast...

Im guessing its the IAC valve? when I was driving I would press the throttle, with little or no response at all, sometimes.

Update: cleaned the IAC (filthy) broke the bottom Philips screw ( it was stripped ) so I dremelled it off!

So far, starts fine...

Search function is your friend here bud.

To reset ECU, just disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 10 minutes. This will also reset all settings you have/had on your SC.

I will try resetting the ECU... But I'm still having problems... Car wont start after short trips, it did it twice today... the one time I sat there for 2 hours trying to start the thing.. not even a sputter... then it started right up. I have no idea what it is..

Anyone else have this problem??

Cleaned the IAC
New battery (Sears Diehard) Apr 2013

trac and engine light on intermittently (usually when I hit about 46mph) 1st engine then immediately followed by trac

so now she starts occasionally. but she wont go over 3k rpm and seems like its stuck in third gear when accelerating from a start, its very slow then all of a sudden she will sputter and pop back to be fine.
