O2 Oxygen Sensor LIES for the 1JZ... 4 wire to 3 wire conversion?
I needed to replace my oxygen sensor on my 1JZ. So after several searches through multiple forums I came to the conclusion that 1JZ shares the same sensor as the 7MGTE and 93-95 2JZGE and 2JZGTE.
I wanted a new sensor so I went on Denso's website to look up part numbers. I found the part number for the 7M and ordered it.
It arrived today and I was shocked and disgusted to find that the Denso o2 sensor for the 7M is a 4 wire type while my 1JZ is a 3 wire type.
So to end all the myths. NO THE 1JZ IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH EITHER THE 7MGTE or 2JZGE/TE! At least if your buying a Denso plug.
My question to the forums is can I rewire this 4 wire plug to fit my 3 wire connector?
Per the Denso FAQ the wiring is as such:
So based of that can I cut the 3 wire connector off and attach it to the two black and one blue wire from the new sensor? Then just ground the white wire separately to the chassis??
Or should I return the new sensor and buy a new one? If so can someone please give me the right part number!?

Per the Denso FAQ the wiring is as such:
A) For the DENSO 4-wire oxygen sensors, the two black wires are designated for the “Heater”, the blue wire is designated for the “Signal” and the white wire is designated for the “Ground”.
Or should I return the new sensor and buy a new one? If so can someone please give me the right part number!?

The old 3 wires do not have a separate ground, attatch the 3 old wires to the right 3 wires on the new sensor. there should be 2 heater wires and a signal wire. The 4th wire is a regular ground the newer 4 wire sensors have, just run it to a ground in the engine bay, it does not need to go to the ecu. that should keep the ecu happy and the new sensor working fine.
